My name is Amy Oelschlager and I am a Nerdy Teacher from Minnesota. I spent the last 4 years (2007-2011) teaching in Texas where my daily experiences and ideas inspired this little blog. In June, 2011, I moved back north to be closer to family and I’m now working as an Elementary Technology Integration Specialist.
As a classroom teacher I was never satisfied with our curriculum and was constantly writing my own units that allowed for students to be creative and use technology. After two years in the classroom and countless hours spent designing technology integrated units, in 2009 I decided to begin working on my Masters in Technology Integration…I graduated in the Spring of 2011 and was lucky enough to get a job as an Elementary Technology Integration Specialist!

Hi Amy,
Your blog impresses me! You seem like a teacher who really knows what she’s doing integrating technology in the classroom, rather than using it just because it’s cool and tech-y.
I’ve written a children’s chapter book (aimed at 3rd and 4th graders) that will help readers learn about gravity. I’m considering posting much of the story online for free, and inviting kids to add their own illustrations to it, either using a drawing app or digital photos of drawings they’ve done on paper.
Does this sound like it would appeal to the 3rd and 4th graders you know? I’d appreciate any feedback you could share.
Thank you!

Hello Amy!
I really enjoyed reading your blog. I also would like to learn from you. How did you incorporate technology in reading and writing? What are the topics in writing which you see most children are interested to write about? Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Kayla Sarte
Amy! I found your ‘Twas the Week Before Christmas poem on a friend’s Pinterest page and I went, wait, I know an Amy Oschlager, and lo and behold you’re the Amy I knew from Northwestern! Good to see you on here! I’ll have to bookmark your blog!
